Restoration of the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church of Vank village, which is located seven kilometers from Turkey’s Malatya city, is getting underway. Malatya’s special provincial directorate already brought construction material and scaffoldings near the church to commence restoration, Haberyurdum website of Turkey informs. Chairman Hosrof Koletavitoglu of the Union of Malatya Armenians noted that the city’s value is growing thanks to such activities, and he stressed that in this way Malatya is regaining its rights.
To note, the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Church of Vank dates back to the fifth century. Also, and simultaneously with this church, the Holy Trinity Armenian Church in Malatya proper is planed to be restored as well.
